Class Structure

All classes will follow a similar format.

  • Constraint-led sparring – The instructor will set the constraints and the position and the goals for each person.
  • Positional Sparring – Sparring from certain positions with the goal of connecting the techniques and goals from the constraint-led sparring.
  • Open Rolling – Sparring to reinforce the techniques you have learned in the previous two methods
  • Warm-down/Stretch – To help with recovery and ensure you stay mobile

Requisite Class

The requisite class is designed to teach you the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu, the culture of Tauranga BJJ and most importantly, learn how to learn Jiu Jitsu.

Requisite class will focus on building basic skills like balance and posture and focuses on techniques and situations on the ground.

Mixed Levels

This is class is designed to implement and build on the fundamental skills learned in the Requisite classes.

The main difference in this class will be the incorporation of techniques from the feet.

Including takedowns and passing from the feet.

When you feel you want to start pushing yourself harder and want to compete, working from the feet will be an essential part of your journey.

As much as we emphasise safety and control, standup work will increase the chance of injury.
